"Burkmar Jewellery" is situated in the Grove End alleyway off Rectory Grove
in Leigh on Sea, Essex. It is a workshop for both Paul and Yu Lan and,
a showroom for both of their work as well as 12 of their friends. All of
our work is hand-made, contemporary and certainly different to what you
would usually find in the High Street.

Paul and Yu Lan met in 2002 and married two years later. Working together
they supply over 150 outlets across the UK and Eire.

Paul Burkmar

Paul trained at Medway College of Design and worked briefly in London's
Hatton Garden. Self employed since 1986 he has taught in many colleges
and first exhibited his own 18ct Gold collection in 1997. He opened his own
showroom in 2002. In his community Paul has been involved in his local art
scene as chairman of www.leigharttrail.co.uk

Yu Lan Burkmar

Yu Lan came to England from Taiwan in 1997 to study jewellery design.
During her studies she won several Goldsmiths Awards for both Design
and Finished Pieces. In her home country of Taiwan, she won the "Best
Contemporary Jeweller" award, in 2007 was named winner of "Best
Emerging Designer in Platinum" and in 2011 won "Best Design" from
the British Jewellers Association for an 18ct Cuff Bangle.
